Sicily, CAPRI + Amalfi Coast| ITALY TRAVEL DIARY

June 2016

In an effort to be chronologically consistent with my travel diaries, I am sharing last summer's escape to Italy a few months late, because Better Late Than NeverSince this trip, I've traveled to 7 countries and captured the adventures in still + video. Stay tuned because I will be sharing more inspiring travel diaries in the next few weeks!

Started off this holiday with my sister in the largest island in the Mediterranean. We explored Sicily by air, land and sea thanks to Armani beauty. I was surprised by how similar the Italian landscape was to California with all the palm trees, bougainvillea and cacti. The seaside views were magical and the food was as good as they said it would be. 48 hours in Taormina, Sicily was the perfect start to this picturesque European summer holiday.

We stayed at a lovely hotel with a beautiful lemon grove backyard in Capri. Explored the island on foot and filled our bellies with pasta, bread and wine. The shops had assortments of lemon-scented everything along and beautiful handmade goods. I recommend getting handmade shoes from L'Arte del Sandalo Caprese that will create a pair for you the same day.

We traveled by boat from Capri to Amalfi Coast. If you have an Instagram account, most likely you've already seen Spiaggia Grande. Costiera Amalfitana is even more beautiful in person. Positano is a major tourist destination, but if you wanted a little more quiet escape stay at the neighboring town of Praiano. There are so many travel diaries and guides for this destination, so I won't re-list the same places. The best tip I can give if you're looking to visit is to be prepared to take several flights of stairs and eat as much fresh pasta, fish, pizza and bread. Also, visit Le Sirenuse for the best view overlooking Positano. The Italian stairmaster workout will be worth it. Every time I was out of breath, there was a beautiful view to capture. So thankful to be able to check off this quintessential European summer destination on my bucket list! Left Italy with with an amazing tan, digital postcards and ultimately craving "real pasta" for weeks.
